Trailer Storage Near Buffalo NY: 2026 Prices and Gated Spaces

If you tow anything in Western New York, you already know the two bad options. The trailer sits in the driveway all winter and the town or the HOA has something to say about it, or it sits behind the garage sinking into the mud until spring.

There is a third option and it costs less than most people assume. A gated outdoor space at Jeff’s Attic on Grand Island starts at $65 a month, and the longest space we have is 65 feet, which will take a boat and trailer together without unhitching.

What does trailer storage cost near Buffalo?

Trailer storage near Buffalo starts at $65 a month for a gated outdoor space and $170 a month for an indoor drive-up unit.

Those are the two real choices for a trailer, and the gap between them is mostly about whether the trailer needs a roof. Here is what Jeff’s Attic charges on Grand Island, fifteen minutes from the city over the South Grand Island Bridge:

SpaceSizePrice per monthBest for
Outdoor vehicle space10 x 20, 12 ft clearance$65Utility, landscaping and small boat trailers
Oversized outdoor space10 x 65$100Boat and trailer together, car haulers, fifth wheels
Indoor drive-up unit10 x 20$170A trailer you want out of the weather
Indoor drive-up unit10 x 30$230Longer enclosed cargo trailers

Every space has 24 hour gate access on an electronic gate, so hooking up at six in the morning for a Saturday launch is not a problem. Reservations hold free for 30 days, and service members get 10% off.

Where to put a boat trailer when the boat is in the water

This is the question we get most between May and September, and it is a different problem from winter storage. The boat is at a marina or on a lift. The trailer is the thing in the way.

An empty boat trailer is mostly air, so paying for an indoor unit is usually money spent on nothing. A gated outdoor space at $65 does the job: the trailer is off your property, behind a fence, on gravel rather than sinking into a lawn, and you can grab it the day you pull the boat.

One practical note. Measure the trailer with the tongue, not the bed. A trailer for an 18 foot boat is often 22 or 23 feet once you count the coupler, and that is the number that decides whether the 10 x 20 works or you want the longer space. If you are unsure, call and someone will walk out and look at what is open.

Utility, landscaping and cargo trailers

The same spaces take a work trailer, and for a lot of local contractors and landscapers that is the actual use case. A 6 x 12 utility trailer or a 5 x 8 dump trailer fits the standard outdoor space with room to swing the gate.

If the trailer is enclosed and you are storing tools inside it, the indoor drive-up unit is worth the difference. You can back the trailer straight in, and the unit is behind a locked door rather than a fence.

Trailer storage on Grand Island

Gated outdoor trailer spaces from $65 a month.

Fifteen minutes from Buffalo, 24 hour gate access, and space long enough for the trailer and the boat.

Will it actually fit?

The honest answer is that most trailers fit and a few do not, and it is worth checking before you drive over. These are the measurements that matter:

  • Overall length including the tongue. The number people quote is usually the deck length. Add two to four feet.
  • Height with anything on top. The outdoor spaces have 12 feet of clearance, which covers almost everything on a trailer but not a tall enclosed box on a lifted frame.
  • Width at the fenders. Ten feet is generous for a single trailer and tight if you were planning to park a truck beside it.
  • Whether you need to unhitch. The 10 x 65 space exists so you do not have to.

If the trailer is longer than 20 feet, go straight to the 65 foot space. At $100 a month it is the cheaper mistake than booking something too short and moving twice.

Getting a trailer through a Western New York winter

Trailers survive winter better than the things they carry, but they still fail in predictable ways. Tires flat-spot, bearings hold water, and a wood deck left under a tarp rots faster than one left open to the air.

Before it sits for the season:

  • Inflate the tires to the sidewall pressure and take the weight off them with blocks if you can
  • Repack or at least check the wheel bearings, because road salt gets into everything by March
  • Grease the coupler and the jack, then cover the coupler rather than the whole trailer
  • Pull the battery on a trailer that has one and keep it somewhere above freezing

If the trailer is going away with the boat still on it, the boat needs its own winterizing, and that is a longer list. We wrote it up separately in the winter boat storage guide for the Buffalo area.

How to reserve a trailer space

You can reserve a space at the Grand Island facility online and we will hold it for 30 days with nothing paid up front, which matters in September when the outdoor spaces go first. Or call (716) 773-2000 and tell whoever answers the length of the trailer. That conversation takes two minutes and beats guessing.

The yard is at 1763 Baseline Rd on Grand Island. From Buffalo it is about fifteen minutes over the South Grand Island Bridge off I-190, and from Niagara Falls it is a similar run down the other side.

Frequently asked questions

How much does it cost to store a boat trailer?

At Jeff’s Attic on Grand Island a gated outdoor space for a trailer is $65 a month, and a 65 foot space that takes the boat and trailer together is $100 a month. An indoor drive-up unit is $170.

How much does it cost to store a 20 foot trailer?

A 20 foot trailer fits the standard $65 outdoor space if the tongue does not push it much past 20 feet overall. Measure with the coupler. If it comes in at 22 or 23 feet, the $100 space is the one you want.

Where can I store my boat trailer near Buffalo?

Grand Island is the closest Jeff’s Attic yard to Buffalo, about fifteen minutes over the South Grand Island Bridge. It is the only one of our three locations with gated outdoor vehicle and trailer spaces.

Can I get to my trailer whenever I want?

Yes. Gate access is 24 hours a day, seven days a week, on an electronic gate, with video surveillance on site. The office keeps shorter hours, Monday to Friday 8am to 4pm, but you do not need the office to get to your space.

Do I have to unhitch the trailer?

Not in the 10 x 65 space. That is the point of it. In the shorter spaces you will usually want to drop the trailer and take the truck home.

Is there a long contract?

No. Storage here is month to month. Plenty of people take an outdoor space from October to April and give it up when the boat goes back in.
